Notebag has been put to rest as it was starting to influence my life in a way that made me extremely uncomfortable. It has been open sourced under a very liberal license and will henceforth live on GitHub as a free download.

Details can be found in this blog post: https://pretzelhands.com/posts/end-of-notebag

May 4, 2020 Official launch day

Notebag has officially been pushed into the wild today and is featured on Product Hunt!

This is the first time I'm showing it to a wider public audience. Both scary and exciting at the same time! We shall see if I've prepared for it enough.

    Congratulations!

As someone who uses the age old method of a small notebook and pen, I have been looking for something just super simple and quick without too many fancy features.

I shall have to sign up and give it a go!

We are also Launch Twins! (I launched today too, but not on PH just yet) and, as my product is about feedback, I wanted to give some I also learnt today.

At the bottom where you can sign up for a trial, I wasn't sure what would happen.
Does it need my card details, just my email, something else? It actually made my download bar pop up and I paniced I had downloaded something dodgey πŸ˜… until I saw it was called Notebag.

Maybe justa small line of what to expect when clicking that trial button? :)

    Otherwise, it is looking good!

    Congrats :)

April 29, 2020 Soft launch and first sale

Not quite a month after working on this app as my main focus, it was finally time to put the landing page online. I shared it with little fanfare in my Twitter development thread. It took approximately two hours before the first license was sold via the website!

April 4, 2020 Accidentally sold first license

During a discussion in a Telegram group of my friends I shared a GIF of a work in progress version of Notebag. One of them asked where they could buy since they had given me a lot of ideas and wanted to see them in action. So, jokingly, I sent them a PayPal link.

A few minutes later I received my first money from this app.

Funny how that goes!

March 7, 2020 First code written

After close to a year of dissatisfaction with other note taking apps this was the day I wrote the first code, immortalized in this tweet:

Originally intended to be a note taking app you could show or hide with a global shortcut, it turned out there were a few more pain points I had.

So I got to work.

About

Having used many different note taking apps I never really found myself very satisified with any of them. So eventually I set out to create a tool that would scratch all of my itches with existing note taking.
