NotShot

On-model product shots, no photoshoot

July 26, 2026 Built NotShot after a customer kept hitting the same photoshoot wall

Hi IH, I'm Thorsten, founder of Reef Digital in Berlin. One of our customers, Reinsberg WA, a Berlin creative studio, kept running into the same problem: every new product line meant another slow, expensive physical photoshoot before they could even show the catalog to buyers.

That's the real problem NotShot solves. Upload a garment photo and a model photo, and the pipeline generates a judge-graded 4K on-model render in under an hour. If the AI judge scores a render below our quality bar, we auto-refund the credit, so we never charge for a result that didn't work.

We're a small bootstrapped team, live at notshot.ai, first render free if anyone wants to try it on their own product photos. Happy to answer questions about the render pipeline or the quality-judge approach.

This is a simple landing page and I wish I could nail the message the way you did. Great product too. Who wants a photoshoot that might not even produce this quality?

“Skipping photoshoots is compelling. Curious — what level of quality makes brands actually switch from traditional shoots?”

    Thanks for the feedback.

I like that you started with a real operational bottleneck instead of leading with AI. The photoshoot delay feels like the problem people are actually paying to solve.

Have you found customers adopt NotShot to replace photoshoots entirely, or are they using it first to validate collections before investing in a full shoot?

One paying customer is running it in production right now, and two more are onboarding this week. These are brands with real quality standards. One of them cares about things like the buttons rendering correctly on the garment, that kind of detail. We're getting production quality out of it that they couldn't get from the AI tools they'd already tried. It goes straight onto their product pages. Some also use it to sanity check a collection or a new SKU before booking a full shoot, and for basic catalog work it's already replacing the shoot.

That’s the part I find most interesting.

Once brands trust AI generated images enough to publish them directly, the conversation shifts from “Can AI do this?” to “Where does it make the most business sense?”

Have you noticed any resistance from customers’ marketing or creative teams, or has the quality been good enough that adoption has been surprisingly smooth?

The interesting part of NotShot is that the product started from a repeated customer workflow problem rather than a technology demo.

How are you thinking about positioning this: as a faster alternative to traditional photoshoots, or as a way for brands to test and launch more products before investing in production?

It's a bit of both, but the second one is where it started. One of our customers kept needing to validate a collection or a new SKU before committing to a full shoot, so that's the workflow we built around.

What shifted the positioning is quality. We're aimed at brands that need high resolution output, higher than the standard AI tools out there give you. The output got good enough that for straightforward catalog work some brands now use it instead of the shoot, not as a preview of it. That same customer has real quality standards, down to the fabric texture of a jacket, and we're hitting a level they couldn't get from the tools they'd already tried.

So faster alternative to photoshoots is becoming the honest description for a lot of cases, but the way most brands come in is still to de-risk the production decision first.

        Appreciate the context.

Would be good to continue the conversation as you learn which use case creates the strongest pull.

About

We built NotShot after seeing a real problem at Reinsberg WA, a Berlin creative studio and one of our customers: traditional product photoshoots are slow and expensive, but brands still need real, on-model catalog shots.
