Less 'what do I cook?' More eating well — for Indian familie

April 10, 2026 I got tired of watching smart people eat garbage in the name of "health"

A few years ago I noticed something strange.

The people around me — educated, health-conscious, genuinely trying — were making some of the worst food decisions I'd ever seen.

Protein bars for breakfast. Skipping dal because "carbs." Dumping ghee because "fat." Downloading apps that turned every meal into a macro calculation.

They weren't being lazy. They were doing exactly what the health industry told them to do. Optimize for one metric. Hit your protein. Track your calories. Done.

But they felt terrible. Bloated, tired, weirdly unsatisfied. And when I looked at what they were actually eating, I understood why.

Food isn't one metric. It never was.

The protein bar that "hits your macros" is also full of emulsifiers your gut doesn't know what to do with.

The app telling you dal is too high in carbs has no idea that dal + rice is a complete protein — something Indian cooking figured out centuries ago.

The nutrition tracker logging your idli as 39 calories has zero concept of fermentation, gut health, or why your grandmother insisted you eat it every morning.

We've reduced one of the most complex, culturally rich, scientifically fascinating things humans do — eating — into a number on a screen.

So I built Nuven.

Not another macro tracker. Not a meal planner. A food discovery engine that actually knows you.

It knows that turmeric isn't just a spice. That how you feel after a meal is data. That your grocery cart tells a story about your health that no fitness app is reading.

The goal is simple: help people make better food choices — ones that are good for their body, rooted in their culture, and not built around a single obsessive metric.

Where I am right now:

I've been in beta with ~30 users. Honest truth — 5 or 6 test regularly. The rest are fatigued or weren't the right fit.

I'm launching in April (without a paywall) and I'm looking for people who are genuinely frustrated with how reductive health apps have become — especially if you cook Indian food at home and every tool you've tried has made you feel like an afterthought.

If that's you — I'd love for you to try it.
