The problem

Naming is a tiny task that somehow becomes a huge blocker:

• Novelists stall because every name starts sounding the same

• TTRPG DMs/GM freeze when players ask for the bartender’s full name + hometown + “definitely-not-a-cult” affiliation

• Indie devs end up with NPC_merchant_02, Village_03, and “I’ll rename it later” (spoiler: later never comes)

The solution

Fantasy Name Gens is a simple, no-friction place to generate fantasy-style names quickly so you can:

• get unstuck in seconds

• grab a batch of names, pick a few, tweak them to fit your setting

• keep momentum while writing / running a session / building your game

Who it’s for

• Writers / worldbuilders: characters, houses, regions, lore drafts

• TTRPG DMs/GMs: NPCs, towns, taverns, artifacts (especially mid-session)

• Indie game devs: better placeholders that don’t destroy immersion

How I personally use it

My workflow is basically:

1. Generate 20–50 names

2. Pick 3 that match the vibe

3. Edit like a human (swap a vowel, shorten a syllable, make it pronounceable)

4. Save the rest for “future me” (future me is always grateful)

What’s next (if people find it useful)

I’m considering improvements like:

• more name styles / categories that help with consistent cultures/regions

• better browsing/refining so you can get “similar vibe” batches

• quality-of-life features for writers/DMs/devs

I’m keeping it lightweight and only building what users actually want.
