API Key Protector

July 20, 2026 I built Octoshield to stop API key leaks before they become expensive

I recently launched Octoshield, a security tool built for vibe coders, indie developers, and small teams shipping fast.

Octoshield scans code repositories for exposed API keys and secrets, monitors API usage and costs, and helps developers act before a leaked credential turns into an unexpected bill or security incident.

I built it because credential security is still too complicated for many independent developers. The goal is to make protection simple, automatic, and part of the development workflow.

Feedback on the product, positioning, and onboarding would be highly valuable.

I like that you're framing the problem around the cost of moving fast rather than around security in general.

I'll be interested to see which part users end up valuing most—finding exposed secrets, preventing unexpected costs, or simply having one less thing to think about during development.

That’s exactly what I’m curious about too. The security side gets attention, but I suspect the real value may be much simpler: giving developers one less thing to worry about while they’re moving fast I will be watching closely to see what users actually come back for is it alerts, cost protection or just the peace of mind..

That’s the interesting thing to watch.

The strongest signal will probably be what users rely on repeatedly, not just what they say they value initially.

Those repeated behaviors usually reveal the real job the product is doing.

I think that’s probably the goal.

If developers eventually forget Octoshield is even there because they trust it’s watching their back, that’s a much bigger win than simply detecting exposed keys.

            Appreciate the context.

That shift from "detecting issues" to becoming trusted infrastructure is the interesting part, but I don't think I'd do it justice in a public thread.

If you're open to it, what's the best email to reach you on?
