Marketplace and Community for Pop Culture Collectors
It's taken a long time – realistically about a year now – but we are very close to an MVP for the platform. We are building it in Django and using TailwindCSS and DTL for the frontend side of things. We played with the idea of a more "modern" API driven approach but that ultimately seemed like an unwise diversion. Instead we're sticking with "boring" technology. We've chosen Heroku to host the platform primarily due to ease-of-use so we can focus on the things we know we can do reasonably well.
Sometime around May 2019, we came up with the idea for a marketplace catering to the pop culture collectibles community. There have been a few deviations and refinements of the idea but ultimately we have stuck to this concept. The goal is to build a community and give collectors of all types the tools and resources they need to build their collection and continue their hobby.
