Building Omnis — a privacy-first, local-processing utility s
Summary
Most web tools are "data traps." I built Omnis to prove that high-performance processing can—and should—happen 100% locally in your browser. No uploads, no server logs, just pure "Functional Beauty."

1. The Problem: The Hidden Cost of "Free" Tools
We’ve all been there. You need to convert a video or format some JSON, so you use a "free" online tool. But the hidden cost is your privacy. You're forced to upload sensitive data to unknown servers, risking data leaks and enduring slow upload speeds.
2. The Solution: Engineering "Local-First" Integrity
I wanted to change that. I built Omnis (https://omnis-tools.com) with a simple rule: Zero server uploads. By leveraging WebAssembly and FFmpeg.wasm, I shifted the compute from the cloud directly to the user's browser. Whether it’s the VideoWorkbench or TaxEngine, every bit of processing is done 100% locally.

3. The Philosophy: Functional Beauty
Inspired by the speed of Linear and the privacy of Excalidraw, I focused on "Functional Beauty." This means minimalist design paired with absolute technical integrity. No clutter, no tracking—just professional-grade tools that respect your digital rights.
4. The Vision: Road to 50k Monthly Sessions
I’m building this in public as a solo maker. My current goal is to reach 50,000 monthly sessions to qualify for Raptive while maintaining a zero-server footprint. It’s a challenge of scaling through SEO and technical excellence, not by harvesting user data.
