I got tired of pasting sensitive data into random online tools.
Every online JSON formatter wants your email. Every PDF tool uploads your file to a server you know nothing about. Every "free" utility is a lead capture form in disguise.
So I built the opposite: OmniTools. 240+ utilities that run entirely in your browser. No uploads. No account. Works offline once loaded. Your data never leaves your machine — not as a marketing claim, as an architectural fact.
The honest state of things right now: zero meaningful traffic, zero revenue, zero organic users I didn't personally send there.
My plan is simple and not very exciting: add Carbon Ads or EthicalAds — the developer-focused networks that don't feel like punishment — and see what a privacy-first tool directory can realistically earn once it has traffic. I'm not paywalling anything. The whole point of the project is that it's free and trustworthy.
What I'm actually asking for from this post:
Would you use it? What would make you bookmark it instead of your current tool?
What's missing? I have 71 developer tools, 68 everyday utilities, 43 ecommerce calculators, 27 SEO tools, 24 finance tools, and 7 design tools. I already know design is thin.
Does the "no data sent to servers" promise feel real to you, or does it read like marketing copy? I want to understand whether the trust gap is a messaging problem or a proof problem.
Is anyone else running a free tool directory on ethical ads? I'm curious what realistic CPMs look like for developer traffic before I commit to this as a monetization strategy.
Not looking for hype. Looking for honest takes from people who build things.

One thing I'd be careful with:
The interesting question may not be why 240 tools aren't getting traffic.
It may be whether traffic is actually the constraint in the first place.
Those sound similar, but they can lead to very different conclusions.
I wouldn't make that call casually from the current data.
