Seeing your stats is inspiring and I appreciate how transparent you are throughout your journey. I'm currently building my startup and I wanted to ask if you are a solo dev as well. If so, how do you go about maintaining consistency and preventing yourself from burning out?

    1. 2

Thanks for the kind words! As a solo dev, consistency is key. I treat my code like my morning coffee, can't start my day without it! As for burnout, I usually take a break and play some guitar. It's a good way to relax my mind and avoid any melodic bugs in my code. πŸ˜‰

February 8, 2023 Growth journey on the Chrome Web Store from 0 to 3K users in 200 days

The growth journey of One Tab Group on the Chrome Web Store has been an incredible one.

Starting from 0 to 1K users in the first 100 days, it was an impressive feat.

However, the journey didn't stop there, as the team kept pushing for further growth. In the next 60 days, the user base grew from 1K to 2K.

And finally, in the 40 days that followed, the user base grew from 2K to 3K.

It's been an amazing journey to watch and the team's hard work has definitely paid off.

  • 0 ~ 1K - 100days
  • 1k ~ 2K - 60days
  • 2k ~ 3K - 40days

What’s next?

Congrats Robert, Launching an LTD for your product definitely helps you in many ways :)
Can you tell us how many licences you planned to sell during your LTD?
and Why you choose to sell that number of licenses? and how many were you able to sell?

  2. 1

    Congrats, brotha!

What do you think of the LTD? Is it sustainable to you?

    1. 1

My strategy is to provide a limited LTD offer, and I use the LTD money as start-up capital to maintain and upgrade the services that the product relies on. This makes the product better and more stable.

I still provide a subscription for users.

      1. 1

Sounds good, and it's a practicable plan for early-stage businesses.

Wish you best of the luck, brotha!

January 6, 2023 A/B Testing for not marketing

I haven't done marketing for a week for my side project One Tab Group

This is an A/B test to see if my product will continue to generate profit if I don't do marketing.

In fact, it would, but with very little revenue. but it has stable traffic much better than before.

Note that this is not really an A/B test, for it to actually be relevant, you would have to test both versions (A and B) at the same time. Why? Because if you don't, you can't be sure that stopping the marketing is what stopped the sales. For example, if you just recently stopped the marketing and the sales stopped, it could also be because of the holidays season, where sales for digital products go down. So in this case, maybe even if you continued with marketing (version A), the sales would have still stopped.

    1. 1

The "A/B test" is an analogy of mine.

      1. 1

I understand, but I also did a similar thing, and unless you have a large amount of sales, you can't really draw a conclusion from stopping marketing. There are also people who buy after a consideration period, that were reached by your marketing but still maybe buy only one week or one month later. Let me know if you know of any good way of truly knowing if "stopping marketing" leads to increased profits or not (in both the short-term and long-term).

One way in which "not marketing" can help in the long run, is that by not focusing on the marketing part you can spend that effort on something else (product/costumer service/seo/etc.).

  2. 1

That's nice :) but you haven't done marketing for a week, before that probably you would have done it.. So, the result of those marketing activities can be seen.
