The AI Marketing Agency that optimises for revenue, not repo

March 14, 2026 AI didn't fix our marketing. It fixed where we were wasting time.

I run a B2B SaaS marketing agency. We manage paid ads and content for Series A and B companies.

When AI tools started flooding the market in 2023, we did what everyone did — bought a bunch of them, plugged them in, and waited for the magic.

Some of them worked. Most of them created more cleanup work than they saved.

Here's the honest picture after two years of actually using AI in marketing workflows:

What AI genuinely changed

Content at scale, without losing specificity. The old tradeoff was: publish fast or publish well. AI collapsed that gap — but only when you feed it real data, real opinions, and actual brand constraints. Generic prompts produce generic content. We now run SEO content workflows where AI handles structure and first drafts, humans handle POV and accuracy. Output went from 4 posts/month to 18. Quality held.

Ad copy iteration. Testing 3 headline variants used to mean 3x the copywriting time. Now we test 15–20 variants per campaign without burning out the team. The winning ads still come from human insight — AI just removes the bottleneck to getting there faster. (We wrote about this for PPC specifically here.)

Lead qualification signals. AI lead generation tools are finally usable for small teams. Not perfect — but scoring and filtering leads automatically means sales is spending time on the right 20%, not chasing everything.

What AI didn't change (and people pretend it did)

Strategy. AI can't tell you whether to go after enterprise or SMB. It can't tell you whether LinkedIn Ads make sense for your ICP at your current budget. It can't figure out why your CAC spiked last quarter.

It also can't write content that earns trust. It writes content that sounds like content. There's a difference, and buyers notice.

The thing most founders get wrong

They treat AI as a replacement for thinking. It's better used as a force multiplier for the thinking you've already done.

The teams we see win with AI aren't the ones with the most tools. They're the ones who got very specific about which 2–3 decisions were eating the most time, then built AI into exactly those spots.

Where this is heading

Search is breaking. AI Overviews are eating organic clicks. Ranking on ChatGPT is now a real distribution channel. Content for AI engines (not just Google) is a thing marketers are actively building for.

The marketers who figure out how to show up in AI-generated answers — not just search results — will have a serious edge in the next 2–3 years. We're still early.

Happy to share what's actually worked for us (and what didn't) if anyone's curious. We publish the honest version at onemetrik.com.

About

I Know what good growth marketing looked like - and how rarely agencies actually delivered it. AI made it possible for a small, expert team to do that work better and faster.
