Fully functional forms without a backend
After quite some days working in my spare time on the project, I managed to reach a point where I'm comfortable with sharing the project with the world.
I bought the domain and deployed the backend to DigitalOcean App Platform and the frontend to my beloved Netlify.
I'm excited to start receiving users. Also, if you're reading this, your feedback is much appreciated!
I made my first commit to this project. I decided to use Vue 3 for the first time (I had played around with it in the past to get the vibe but still never used it for anything serious) but stuck with my usual Node.js with Fastify and TypeScript with the backend.
The persistence layer is handled by MongoDB. This made the most sense because I wanted to keep the forms dynamic, so that the fields are just read from the form data of the submission itself and they don't need to be configured beforehand in any way.

For quite some time I've been dabbling with all sorts of side projects. None of them actually was significant enough for me to stick around and complete them. I guess none of them clicked before.
But a few months back I made the mistake of grossly underestimating the effort and complexity involved in including a functional form in an otherwise perfectly static, incredibly simple website.
I carried on with my life after this stupid, slightly embarrassing mistake, but it came back to me recently, and then I thought that this overcomplicated need could be easily solved by a service and that I could build that service myself.
Something like "headless forms" if you want.
And so the adventure begins... ^^

I find it mind-blowing that even a completely static website needs some kind of backend for doing something as basic as receiving submissions from a form. So I'm building a tool to solve it: a headless form service!
