Open Cover Letter
GPT3 - AI Generated Cover Letters
After a huge struggle of keeping my ADHD-brain on target and not building every cool feature that no one asked for: the MVP is finished. I stayed up late forcing everyone in the household to bug-test while I setup google analytic and swapped out the Stripe API keys to live. 3... 2... 1... we have liftoff!
I shared a simple GIF of a barely working MVP of Open Cover Letter on a popular web development subreddit. After an overwhelming interest, I started replying to comments with a google-form email collection. After 1.6k upvotes and 165 emails gathered, the subreddit mods shut off comments.

Now with a pain point targeted, it was time to write some code! But what framework do I use? MISTAKE AHEAD How about Next.js; I've never used that before! This decision led to a bit longer of development time than I anticipated. The silver-lining of this mistake is that I learned a lot along the way. Next.js and the Vercel team are awesome.

While applying for a new developer position, I found myself spending a LOT of time writing cover letters... 99% of which would did not land me an interview or even a phone call. With my limited free time (full time dev, 2 kids); I did NOT have hours to waste every night writing these cover letters. 💡💡💡
