March 9, 2019 Best Tip for your Landing Page

So I was looking at the analytics data (Matomo) and saw that everybody just looking at the Stats Page of Open Startup Stats. But nobody tried it out for themselves. Why is that?

Maybe because I forgot to give a proper How to! πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

It's still quite a clumsy process. Have to think about something easier. I don't want to bother with a proper backend yet, until the idea gets validated.

March 7, 2019 Deployed it is...

Most important for me for this project is speed. So I didn't want to use a VPS or even AWS for that matter. Years ago I played around with https://zeit.co/now and a friend of mine used it as well lately.

So I thought, let's give it a shot. I am blown away how fast you can get something up and running. SSL certificates, Routing, etc. in under an hour. πŸ‘€

https://openstartup.dev is officially online!

March 7, 2019 Working Prototype!

Nice!

It took only a couple of hours to cobble together a prototype using Google Sheets and Vue.js. πŸŽ‰

March 7, 2019 Got the idea and bought the domain

You have to have your priorities straight. That's why I (obviously) bought the domain https://openstartup.dev first before even thinking about how to build the product. πŸ™ˆ

Where did I get the idea from? I was stumbling over https://nomadlist.com/open and investigated about the movement. Super cool guys and so helpful seeing all that data.

After a quick investigation I saw that most people built these /open pages themselves. That makes sense because they know their website and know where the data is.

I want to give No-coding founders and people, who just want to be up and running quickly a solution for showing their data as simple as putting them into a spreadsheet (literally). πŸ˜‰

So work began...

Will you ask for money for this?

The idea is literally 24h old, so my business plan is not fully fledged out. πŸ˜…

No but my plan is to see if there are people are interested in something like that and fletch it out. And if it is creating value for customers I'm not against charge for that. But right now that's still quite in the future.

My Question: Would you use a service like this? And would you pay for it?

I might have used it (this could also serve as a collection of pages, so it would be a directory as well). I would pay if the payment would be reasonable and required only if I would go above a certain revenue. Like until $5K a month it's free. Once you break it, its fixed monthly amount.
Then I would add the possibility to buy sponsorship in this directory. This can be directly tight to the payment plan for the graphs. So - pay $99/mo since you broke the revenue threshold but also get featured placement. Some people would upgrade without going to $5K in revenue then.

Thank you for your suggestions. The idea about a "highscore" system/catalog is quite intriguing. I will think about that. πŸ‘

About

I was browsing the crazy cool Startups of Pieter Levels and baremetrics open-startups. Baremetrics is quite $$$ focused (which is okay of course) and Pieter built the /open pages himself. So I built this quick MVP!
