September 17, 2026 OpenAmer: an open-source agent that drives a real browser (250+ skills)

Most AI agents stall at the same place: the step that only exists inside a browser UI.

Webhooks, APIs, no-code flows handle the well-shaped work. Then you hit a supplier dashboard, a courier backend, an insurance form, a marketplace seller panel — no API, no integration, so the process stays manual forever. That last mile is usually the actual bottleneck.

OpenAmer is what I built for that gap. It is an open-source AI agent that runs on your own machine and drives a real browser in the background, so it handles the browser-only steps instead of stopping at the webhook. 250+ skills, self-hosted, no cloud dependency. It runs on about 20W on a laptop — I track energy per task because I think "AI worker" should mean something you can actually afford to leave running.

What it is not: another hosted SaaS that wants your credentials on someone else's server. You own the machine, you own the data.

Built in public, and I would rather show real numbers than pitch. Repo: https://github.com/openamer/openamer

If you want to follow along, ask questions, or tell me which boring browser workflow is currently eating your week, the Discord is where I actually hang out: https://discord.gg/gckmapHrr

If you would rather have the pipeline built for you instead of self-hosting, I do a focused 48h engagement for that: https://openamer.github.io/openamer/consulting.html

And if this is useful and you want to keep it running, there is a tip jar: https://www.paypal.com/ncp/payment/3HMBFYC9CQTMS

Genuinely curious what people here would automate first with a browser-driving agent. My bet: anything behind a login you cannot script.
