I posted a link to my constraint solver series on OpenSourc.ES and got 5,000 visits and 200 upvotes in the first 24 hours.
Here are three lessons I learned:
- Have content that people are interested but you must be your biggest fan.
- Promote at the right time in the right community

Paying for server costs
I'm now able to pay for my monthly server costs by starting a patreon page and blogging and promoting more.
In September I started to write a constraint solver in Julia and blogging while I code. This got quite some interest in the community over Reddit and HackerNews.
