August 16, 2019 200 users!

Without any paid promotion, just a thread here on IH and help of some friends, open source analyzer was used by more than 200 users. It's amazing such tool is used from other people and also inspiring!
I know many of my users are curious people that want to know how to use it, but what I've learned so far is: many people whant to know better their github repository

Edit: improved explanation about not using paid promotion

If there was no promotion, where did the first dozen users come from?

      Hi, thanks for the comment!

First "alpha users" comes from a thread here on IH and some friends

So basically you lied. Without any paid promotion, or with only a thread on here and an email to a few friends open source analyser was used by over 200 people would have been accurate.

Of course that would never, have got you as many clicks and you know it.

I think "lied" is a big word here, but you are right, I must reconsider how I wrote my sentence, like you suggested "Without any paid promotion" is more accurate.

Side note: I'm not a native english speaker so any suggestion on how to improve in relevant for me.

Funny note: in italian promotion is translated to "promozione" ( http://www.treccani.it/vocabolario/promozione/ ) with a lot of meaning, including this part:

L’insieme delle attività volte a incrementare la vendita di un prodotto (indicato anche, talora, con il termine ingl. promotion).

Translated in (by google translate this time!)

The set of activities aimed at increasing the sale of a product

My mistaske is on "sale" part. Because open source analyzer does not involve money, so there is no sale.
I have to work on this part, thanks!

Lie is a strong word but so is no and no promotion suggests a build jt and they will come approach.

Side note: I'm not a native english speaker so any suggestion on how to improve in relevant for me.

To be honest, I'd suggest emphasing the non native English speaker part , your excellent English makes it supiscous in a way I'd ignore from a foreigner.

You made a mistake,I bet any attempt I made at italian would be way worse.

It is just unfortunate that this is a typical tatic used deliberately by marketers to mislead people.

I am wondering if google translate is messing up on the trnaslation between sale and sell(which have different meanings) I will have to ask my half italian friend.

Sale means money exchanges hands, sell means to promote you can sell yourself or a cause.

Interesting thing patter(what salesmen use to persuade people to buy) comes from palter meaning "to deliberately mislead via omission"

thanks to you @KC_Higgs for "excellent English " part 3> !

I agree, something to fuel clickbait !

Going back to track, do give a try to open source analyzer? What do you think about it ?

January 2018 Start from my need

Many times I've found hard to evaluate quickly a github repository, so why I don't create a tool to assist myself during this evaluation?
My idea came after a talk with a friend of mine with similar problem: how trust an awesome github repository not so known?

After only two days a simple, easy to use (just put an url and hit the button!) prototype is up and running on heroku.
I've learned to not focus on libraries, frameworks and so on: just write down backend part ( a scraper in my case) and a decent frontend with minimum functionalities.

About

Everyday I need to use open source libraries, many of them are on github, so I've created a quick tool to get all relevant data in one single screen, to help me evaluate them
