We help local businesses gather reviews from their customers
On the 31st July, exactly 14 days after signing up, a co-founder's flight instructor payed for Opinous!
In doing so they became the first customer to have Opinous live on their website and start collecting reviews.
We still haven't worked out how to market the product outside of our own networks but for now the game goes on!
After a couple weeks of working late into the night we had built a prototype of the product using React and NodeJS.
It didn't have all the features we wanted but it was enough to demonstrate that we could massively improve the review experience for customers and small businesses.
We showed the product to a few of our friends and started hunting for customers.
We went out for dinner one night and discovered that the restaurant we were eating at didn't have a Google listing. We'd stumbled upon it totally by accident but noticed that it was a lot quieter than other restaurants in the area.
We decided that we could build a lightweight SAAS product to help gather, triage and publish reviews and thus the idea for Opinous was born.
