July 23, 2020 🎉 the start of something new 🎉

My first product flopped. It's scary to admit to yourself when you've failed. It's even harder when you're a solo founder, and you've invested so much time and money into it.

But I'm not going to grieve, instead I'm going to push on wards and learn from my past mistakes.

Announcing my next project: Ottercamp.
The idea: The central forum-styled web app to gather and track your customers feedback.

Why? It's an idea that I've been umming and aahing over for about 2-3 years. It's actually been in the back of my mind when building all my other side projects. "I need to figure out what my users actually want".

So I think it's time I execute on this, with the goal of building a fantastic product (in terms of price to value ratio), user experience (for both our customers and our customers' customers), and based on our ethics.

If you don't know what our ethics are, it's simple:

  • Be kind to the planet.
  • Be kind to our users.

We execute on these principles by not tracking our users, not selling user data, and not screwing over the customer at every opportunity.

With Ottercamp, I plan on contributing a percentage of our revenue to https://www.welshwildlife.org/.

I'll be updating regularly with progress :)

I think there's a gap in the market for a cheaper customer feedback/feature request platform.
