The idea began by just considering that I didn't necessarily need to host everything in the cloud. I had lots of compute resources at home, I only required the Internet accessibility.

I thought to myself that at the early point for my most of projects, I could just host the actual software and data on own resources. I did this manually and my costs were reduced by 20x!

I thought others probably want to do the same thing, and that building a turnkey solution would provide instant value to others.
