March 24, 2024 I started my project by open-sourcing core code

I had been doing work on a project I call "PagePerfect" for a few months in 2023, building screens in Figma, writing experiments for the web front-end and the object model for page content, and writing several PDF output libraries, mostly iteration of the PDF writers I had been writing since 2010 for various projects and employers.

In January 2024 I had this great idea for a PDF library that would make my life a lot easier, and WhatsApped a friend the idea over a series of posts, with sample code and lots of features.

Mid-way through writing the library I read @andris9's post about his open-source and source-available initiatives and I thought that open-sourcing this library, which is (potentially) a chunk of core code for PagePerfect, would be both a nice thing to do, and a great way to get some engagement.

As of yesterday, PDF Script is available on Github (https://github.com/PagePerfect-io/PDFScript/) and as a Nuget package (PagePerfect.PdfScript).

I will crack on with my projects (including PagePerfect) and in the mean time I hope PDFScript will be useful to others out there generating PDF docs programmatically.

To create a multi-page brochure or product catalog, creators today still only have two big options - hack it together in Word, or get a designer to build one in Adobe InDesign.
