I’ve spent years in performance marketing watching customer acquisition get more expensive and less precise.

At the same time, the data powering these systems comes from people who only benefit indirectly from their data through free products or better terms.

That asymmetry didn’t sit right with me.

Paid by Data is my attempt to flip that model creating a direct, transparent exchange where people choose what they share and get tangible value in return, starting with something simple like sponsoring a Strava subscription.

It’s an experiment as much as a business:

I’m building Paid by Data because I’ve seen customer acquisition become more expensive and less effective, while the data driving it comes from individuals who neither control nor benefit from it. Paid by Data flips this
