September 11, 2023 The fun part: Idea and design phase

Hi all 👋,

I'm embarking on an exciting journey to develop a side project with the hope that it evolves into something significant. I'm thrilled to have you join me on this adventure.

The Concept:
Imagine an API that empowers developers to implement workflows based on insights derived from device fingerprinting. For instance, consider what happens when a user logs in from a different device or how your business or technical logic adapts when one account is shared across multiple devices. Although, brainstorming the numerous features this could have and envisioning its global utility is a lot of fun, I know that I need to launch and launch quickly.

The Minimum Viable Product (MVP):
While this product could potentially address an endless array of scenarios, it's essential to prioritise the initial launch. What do we solve that minimises time to launch without compromising on value?

Defining the MVP Scope:
I have decided to start with an API that assists in implementing a commonly encountered workflow: notifying users when a login occurs from a different device and allowing users to revoke the session.

Why this Choice?

  • It's a quicker build, reducing time-to-market.
  • A substantial proportion of software products necessitate user logins, making this scenario a ubiquitous challenge.

With the MVP Scope now clearly outlined, the next steps involve refining designs and the landing page, followed by the development phase.

I'm currently in the final stages of preparation, and I'd greatly appreciate it if you could take a moment to check out the landing page:

Next Steps:

  • Finalize designs and the landing page 🎨
  • Start Building ⚒️

If you've made it this far, your feedback would be invaluable, or you can even register for early access to stay updated on the journey. Thank you for being a part of this (hopefully successful) journey.

About

I have realised how valuable device fingerprints can be to both product, security and business goals. However, implementing processes around them like unknown logins is distracting from a core product.
