Poppylist
Baby registries made simple.
This summer, I participated & graduated from Y Combinator's Start Up School. I met people from around the world, and one of whom I still keep in touch with. He's in Germany. And if YC SUS gave me anything, it gave me a small, global network of people who are genuinely rooting for my success. In a world that feels exceptionally lonely at times, I'm reminded each Monday when I receive their startup updates, that there are people who care about my success and what I'm building. And vice-versa.
That's long winded and not totally related to this post, but it felt therapeutic to write it out.
I'll report back data once the post has been up a few days.
Subject Line: Building your baby registry doesn't have to suck.

Almost 3 months after our launch, we reached a major milestone - 1,000 Parent Type quiz users! We did this by trolling Twitter and looking for people talking about their experience and engaging in conversation with them. I joined parent groups on Facebook and asked for feedback, and I joined Reddit threads about parenting and pregnancy. We also focused on a Pinterest strategy and Instagram growth.

Leaving my full-time career back in January was the best decision I've ever made for myself and for my family. I spent 6 months full-time preparing to launch my start-up, and the majority of that time was spent building out the 4 parent type personas, testing and creating an algorithm for the Parent Type quiz, working with a graphic designer and building the website. Here are some exciting launch day stats:
- 414 unique visitors to my website, an increase of +10,250.0% day/day
- 167% increase in quiz users within 24 hours.
- 37% increase in quiz completion rate.
- 607 new interactions on Instagram
Parent type quiz: Built in Typeform
Website: Squarespace
Graphics: Good Snake Studio in Austin, Texas
Email Automation: Mailchimp

This is an important milestone that I was to remember. It was my last day at Rackspace. I knew in my hear that I'd already won. I was walking away from a career that took me around the world to pursue launching Poppylist, and I'm so grateful I made the leap.

I'm working on Poppylist because building your baby registry as a first-time parent is a comically disorienting, overwhelming and time consuming process. We exist to simplify this process for all future parents.
