Funny story:
Our back-end actually was very close to crashing due to the high processing volumes, and we scrambled to figure out (within a 2-4 hour window) on revamping & optimizing our data processing to avoid exorbitant server fees.
Got the MVP to a decent point (late 2018) and started closed Beta testing with my personal network, (ProductHunt Ship)[https://producthunt.com/upcoming/pathbase], and (Facebook)[https://facebook.com/pathbase]. 😃
The first rounds of testing went far from smooth, with bugs & crashes preventing users from providing substantial feedback. 😫
In the last few weeks, this has been improved drastically, along with major improvements in Onboarding. 🐱👤
Still struggling to get good retention, and my **#1 priority is to determine if the app's value proposition is off, or it's more of a UX thing. Don't have enough traffic to get huge volumes of feedback data, so going to communities (like IndieHackers) to acquire as much qualitative feedback as I can. 🧐

Hey @emekaonu, apologies - I literally got flooded with the Open Beta release, integrating user feedback & new features.
The revenue engine here would be corporate learning, where we sell a platform to companies where employees can easily manage their careers & spot skill gaps, find top learning resources curated for their career goals, and participate in collaborative learning with other team members.
This obviously would be a tiered SaaS, with the premium features being organizational analyses on learning activity & skill gaps - particularly helpful for fast-growing, medium sized companies and large corporations.

PathBase started from my own frustrations of being in a job unaligned with my passions, with limited time/energy to grow on the side, and a super-obscure career development process. This is something I saw countless around me suffer and really wanted to solve it. 😠
Not allocating our talent efficiently to roles they love (where they tend to perform best in) stalls us from solving the world's major challenges, and is just overall highly inefficient (both from a talent efficiency standpoint, and individual happiness). 🌍

The project I worked on before (PathBase)[pathbase.io] was called SagePath, which had a similar user value proposition (helping build dream careers by spotting & filling skill gaps) but targetted college students. Turned out that market wasn't too viable in terms of business model, with career centers' limited budgets and long sales cycles that characterize colleges. 😞
I've learned 2 things from that project, which was (1) find a way so sales cycles aren't a bottleneck to traction and (2) young professionals in the early stages of their career worry/prioritize their careers as much as (if not more than) college students.
That's why the project pivoted (by salvaging several features/codebase) to young professionals. The key difference in approach here will be that the app will be highly focused on the individual's needs to REALLY help them with their careers. The love hopefully spreads virally and makes selling to companies way easier (i.e. the "Slack" approach). 💡
