June 13, 2021 Made 10 Sales of Pawa Lite Early Access

I made only 10 units available for sale on Ko-fi, so that I could provide adequate service to the first few users of Pawa Lite, but more importantly, I needed to see if someone would even be willing to pay for a self-hosted version of pawa.

I'm not sure I can call this a great success, but it's definitely a milestone!

February 3, 2021 First GitHub Sponsor

Since it's inception pawa has been open source, so anyone who wanted to self-host could do it on their own. I've spent hours working on this bot, improving and making performance adjustments here and there.

Seeing someone sign up to support this project with their hard earned cash is truly inspiring!

January 14, 2021 Pawa Lite: Early Access Released

I've been working on an offshoot of pawa that I'm calling Pawa Lite. This is a self-hosted version of pawa that is prepackaged and ready to go.

It's not perfect but in the spirit of worse is better, I'm making this available as an early access release to see if there's any interest. Unlike pawa, Pawa Lite wont be free, but it is open source.

December 2020 First Private and Public Donation on Ko-fi!

Honestly, I'm doing very little to drive traffic to my donation sites. I have Github Sponsors set up with a link to Ko-fi, and a link on the landing page, so the fact that this happened is pretty awesome!

Every little bit helps, but more than anything, it encourages me to continue improving the service.

June 4, 2020 5000 Servers

pawa is now being used in over 5000 servers! It's been a bit slow, but the growth has been fairly steady.

I'll need to do a bit more evangelizing to get traffic in my direction and get more attention. Will reach out to YouTubers that review Discord bots.

Time to execute!

I already had the idea, just needed to get off my butt and start writing code. I started with an existing codebase, but quickly realized that I needed to redo the majority of it.

Sometimes just getting started is enough to get the ball rolling.

About

Was looking for a way to record voice conversations on Discord for content creation, but, at the time, none existed. I decided to work on this as a side project and now it's being used by over 7k servers.
