PDFx Builder

Production-ready PDFs for React, in code you own

July 22, 2026 Launched PDFx Builder: a visual react-pdf builder that exports code you own

I just launched the thing I have been building nights and weekends. PDFx Builder is a drag-and-drop builder for PDF templates aimed at React developers. The wedge is ownership: instead of locking you into a hosted template like most PDF SaaS, it exports clean react-pdf TSX you keep and commit to your repo.

The bet: developers will adopt a free tool that gives them owned code, and a subset will pay for volume, AI drafting, and a hosted render API once they are shipping in production. Export is priced as a cheap acquisition loss-leader (it costs almost nothing to serve); the recurring revenue is AI + the managed/API layer.

Stack: Next.js, react-pdf, Supabase, Polar for billing, PostHog for analytics. Solo.

Happy to go deep on the pricing model (free allowance + one-time packs + subscription), the build, or the go-to-market.

About

Every React project I shipped that needed PDFs ended the same way: fighting Puppeteer (broken pagination, tables split mid-row), or hand-writing @react-pdf/render so I built PDFx Builder.
