September 25, 2016 Top 25 Strava API winner

Got in the top 25 for the Strava API challenge, which ended up being a great boon for the usage of the site. Tons of folk signed up, and would eventually get featured in Bicycling Magazine and some other spaces. Ultimately, I should have built it as a mobile application, but... well, good learning.

Is there still an opportunity to use the momentum to turn it into a mobile app?

I don't think so. I enjoyed building Pedal Pedal, but my focus is on Knowsi now.

August 26, 2016 Launched Pedal Pedal Club

Launched Pedal Pedal Club right before the Strava API challenge submission deadline. Recorded a video with my wife using the App, and using it to buy a cycling jersey. The idea: Put in the miles to justify the rewards. We started getting new signups pretty quickly as well thanks to the Strava association.

July 16, 2016 Finalized Design Direction

After a bunch of research and testing of design concepts, finally settled on a design to flush out. I'm focusing on the desktop app experience, which is going to be about organizing and dragging the things in your wishlist into the queue. Turned out it works really well, though it took a while to figure out how to implement the interface idea.

July 1, 2016 Built a weekend prototype

Tapped into the Pinterest and Strava APIs to build the initial prototype of what would become Pedal Pedal Club. Went through a ton of different name ideas, things like Pedaled, Pedal & Pin, etc. Eventually the brand settled, and did a ton prototyping after the initial to get it right.

About

My wife was getting into cycling, but didn't feel like she deserved the gear to succeed. Me, on the other hand, I'm all too enthusiastic about shopping. The solution? Put in the miles, monitor your budget, get the gear.
