Peekr App

The social network for movies and series

April 30, 2026 I built a social app for movies and series in Latin America — here's what I learned going solo

I'm Jorge, solo founder of Peekr — a social app for discovering, rating, and discussing movies and series, built specifically for Spanish and Portuguese-speaking audiences in Latin America.

The problem I kept hitting

Every time a new season dropped, I'd text 5 friends asking "have you seen it?" There was no app that showed me what the people I actually trust were watching right now. Letterboxd is great but English-first and critic-heavy. TV Time tracks episodes but has no real social layer. Nothing was built for our market, our language, our culture.

What I built

Peekr has a social feed at its core — you follow friends and see their ratings, watchlist adds, and PeekLists (curated themed collections) in real time. Beyond that: SneakPeeks (short video reactions tied to specific titles), Peekr AI (Movie Personality profile, Movie IQ score, Compatibility Test between friends), and PeekrBuzz (editorial content about what's new in film and TV).

Stack: Flutter + Supabase + Next.js + Vercel. Built and shipped solo.

Where I'm at

Live on iOS, Android, and web. Early traction, growing organically in Argentina and expanding across Latin America. Completely free — no subscription.

What I'd love feedback on

  • Does the social-first angle resonate outside Latin America?

  • Anyone else building for non-English markets — what's been your biggest distribution challenge?

Happy to answer anything. peekr.app if you want to try it.

About

Solo founder from Buenos Aires. Built Peekr because no app showed me what my friends were actually watching — and nothing existed for Latin America.
