Kickstarter or Indiegogo?

So I did research earlier in the year. As I'm from South Africa I could do Indiegogo, but not Kickstarter (which I preferred). The only way to do Kickstarter is to have a USA bank account and a company registered there in Deleware. Luckily Stripe and First base offer a service for this @ $500 more or less.

This was an option, but I decided to go with Indiegogo as it was easier (so I thought 😪). So earlier in 2020 Indiegogo was open to SA. By June 2020 it wasn't anymore 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️😡

After getting over the setback I registered a company in the USA using Firstbase.io because it was cheaper than Stripe.

Because of COVID though, what normally take 2 - 3 weeks took 5 months 😱

I further realized after doing the research I could not launch on Kickstarter as I preferred, because besides a company and bank account you need to be a resident in the USA.

Finally 😅 - I chose Indiegogo. Using CANVA and my magical God-given creative skills I made a beautiful campaign and even made a slick video to raise the $8000 =>

Hey there, I am trying to launch my project on Kickstarter but I m scared of that prelaunch preparation. Many are saying that I have to spread the word for my campaign and get people to my landing page first and create a community before launching the project on Kickstarter or Indiegogo. Have you made such preparation?

Hi! I did not. Obviously, having some following or community will help a lot.
Depending on your product it is tough - but doable.
If the product is not an instant hit - you have to market like crazy. That's the only way. Lots of startups are available that help with crowdfunding. You pay them and then get access to their communities. So it all depends.

      Good luck!

That is a super slick campaign video. Well done pulling that off with Canva! This gives me confidence in running my own campaign.
