April 27, 2026 Stop typing data by hand. Automate Data Extraction with AI

Hey IH,

I’m working on PerfectParser because manual data entry is a relic that needs to die. It’s a slow, expensive drain on teams that causes unnecessary errors and burns out smart people.

Most document extraction tools today fall into two categories:

  1. The Brittle Legacy: Old-school OCR that breaks if a logo moves 10 pixels.

  2. The Enterprise Trap: Bloated platforms that demand a $500/mo subscription and a "discovery call" just to see a price tag.

I wanted something different: A tool where you just tell the AI what you want in plain English.

How it works (The "No-Template" Approach)

Instead of drawing boxes on a screen, you create an "Agent" and talk to it:

  • Define in English: Tell the agent, "Extract the total tax, vendor VAT number, and all line items."

  • No Templates: It doesn't matter if the layout changes; the AI understands the context.

  • Bulk Power: Drop 500 messy PDFs or scans into the queue and get clean JSON, Excel, or CSV back in minutes.

The "Indie" Logic

  • No Subscriptions: I hate "zombie" monthly bills. It’s strictly pay-per-page. If you don’t use it, you don’t pay.

  • Privacy First: We don't train AI models on your data, and we have automatic data deletion policies.

  • No Engineering Required: Built for Ops, Finance, and Logistics teams who can't wait for a dev sprint to get things done.

If you have a document type that usually breaks other parsers—or if you're just tired of copy-pasting from PDFs—I’d love for you to give it a spin.

I’m looking for honest feedback on the "Plain English" configuration. Does it feel intuitive?

It is a massive drain on productivity when you have to spend hours manually copy-pasting data just because a vendor decided to move their invoice header to the other side of the page.

The shift from coordinate-based OCR to LLM-driven extraction is huge because the AI actually reads the semantic meaning of the text rather than just looking for words at specific pixel locations.

Are you finding that users are struggling at all with how to word their extraction prompts for more complex nested tables or does the "Plain English" handle that out of the box?
