Persumi
A platform built for writers, bloggers and content creators.
Hi folks, I wrote a blog post the other day on how I built my MVP in 3 months whilst having a day job, using Elixir/Phoenix/LiveView. Hopefully it's somewhat useful or entertaining for some readers. :)
Hey folks, I'm soft launching my MVP today and would love to hear your honest feedback. For the past few months I've been working extremely hard on this side hustle in my spare time (I have a day job as a CTO).
I'm building a platform for writers, bloggers and content creators that's built for them rather than for investors and advertisers like most similar products and social media platforms backed by VCs.
I wrote about why I built it here: https://persumi.com/c/persumi/u/fredwu/p/welcome-to-persumi-a-modern-platform-for-content-creation
And the landing page is here: https://persumi.com/
I would really love your honest feedback, if you care to share them with me. :)
In the next week or two I'll write about how I built this MVP in three months - the tech, the architecture, the experiments and the missteps... If you are curious, stay tuned!

Hey @fredwu one thought I have is about whether or not you think you are offering too many features to your target audience.
From what I've gathered from your landing page, it looks like you offer creators the opportunity to generate long-form content, short-form content, create podcasts, use an AI-writing assistant, download RSS feeds, etc. on top of being a social media platform.
My thoughts are to focus on 1-2 core features for your Persumi initially. This way you do not subject your users to choice paralysis.
As you said, you have parked the 'chicken and egg' problem as it is one of the most difficult aspects of starting a social media platform. Perhaps consider building tools that help users enrich their content on popular social sites in the meantime.
Just some thoughts, happy to discuss them further if you are interested. Enjoy your weekend!

Hi @kyle_d thank you so much for the feedback I really appreciate it! ❤️
It's an interesting one, on one hand I absolutely agree with you that I should keep things simple to not confuse users, on the other hand, these days the bar is so high that people already have so many choices, it's difficult to stand out without one-upping the competitions, so to speak.
My plan is to use AI Audio as the "hero" feature, whilst keeping other features slightly lower profile, and see how they go. If/when the platform gains traction I'll be able to focus on the things users like the most.
Just curious, out of the features available in Persumi, are there any that stood out for you?

@fredwu
AI Audio Generation for sure. I still think that this is an untapped space that is incredibly complex.
I recently saw someone leverage AI to transcribe a Lex Fridman episode into another language along with being able to morph their facial expressions to follow the phonetics of it.
