Although I found abwhose personally very useful it was never going to get wide adoption: having to install a CLI was a big friction point.

Instead, I decided to build a tiny web app. The goal was to be able to report phishing sites in as few clicks as possible.
By just putting phish.report/ in front of any URL you could instantly get to a page with a couple of buttons to report it as phishing.

This was a massive productivity upgrade over the CLI.

Phish.Report started life as a command-line tools called "abwhose" (https://github.com/bradleyjkemp/abwhose).

This let me prototype the idea quickly and get some validation that it was useful.

It also let me start collecting the data about which providers had special abuse reporting procedures.
