PhoneWagon
Modern call tracking software and cloud-based phone system
We started this journey about 3 years ago. We have scaled the team up to almost 15 people (mostly SDRs and AEs) and have now pulled back to operate super lean. Our average customer pays $130 per month so it took almost 800 customers to hit $100k MRR. Now to the next goal of $500k!
We had set a goal to hit $1m in ARR in the summer of 2019. We all kept talking about $83.33k in MRR for the past 6 months. We combined outbound calling, cold emails, paying for inbound leads through Google Ads and Facebook, and a bunch of other tactics in order to hit our goal. When we did, we published this blog post: https://phonewagon.com/million/ and of course we made a song and music video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VE1VJnHdKhE&feature=emb_title. Let me know what you think of it!

After we completed Techstars we raised a $1.2m seed round from Active Capital and Birchmere Ventures. We were really excited to raised this round of funding because we knew it would allow us to hire great people and keep our momentum after Techstars.
Here's the article from Techcrunch: https://techcrunch.com/2017/12/07/phonewagon-raises-1-2m-to-track-when-marketing-campaigns-lead-to-phone-calls/

Hi, Ryan. Saw this now and got curious to know what happened after.
- How many people did you hire? Could you talk about first hires and their positions?
- Did you and your co-founders started taking a salary right after the seed round?
- Started investing in paid marketing right away or invested in organic?
I was wondering online what happens after the seed round and would be curious to hear a little more about your experience. Cheers

Firstly, as a marketers most of my clients were getting leads through inbound phone calls. I knew I had to track the calls and attribute to my ad campaigns. I wanted to build a modern system that combined voip.
