Started contributing to Piku
by Chris McCormickBack in May 2019 I was looking for an open source alternative to the mainstream PaaS offerings. I discovered an amazing little Python project called Piku by Rui Carmo. It's a super minimal way to deploy apps to your own VPS using git push.
I soon began contributing to the project with scripts to make it easier to install Piku on a fresh VPS, bugfixes, and other additions. I spoke about Piku at Linux Conf Au 2020 on the Gold Coast.

I still use Piku every day and I have more than 30 apps getting 1,000s of visitors per month on a $12/m Digital Ocean box.
