Pilot Data

After a few months of leaving the app in testflight, I decided I might as well release it and see what happens. Pilot Data hasn't received any marketing so far. Just some development time and a release to the iOS market.

I need to be able to create quick apps on my phone. Things like shopping lists, personal CRMs, and new years resolutions could be micro apps for my phone. It would also be nice to be able to hook up to zapier. So I tried out some of the existing solutions:

I tried using Airtable on a phone and I struggled editing a table from my phone. I don't need a table.

I tried using monday.com but it is also a table. Monday.com is also very expensive and not something I could see myself paying for.

I tried using Coda but again, it is a table. Oddly enough for coda though, their mobile app is a wrapped web app that doesn't quite feel right on a phone.

I tried using Notion which is nice on desktop, but again not as optimized to work on a phone.

So I set out to see if I could build a mobile database.
