Pinc
Short passwords and pin codes manager for iOS
Last month has been good! ๐
Mainly due to launch on Product Hunt which also led to a few external reviews. I'm very glad this milestone has been reached, which unlocks another target of 1000 monthly new users ๐
P.S. If you like the app, please spread the word ๐โ๏ธ
Finally!
I knew I would do this since the moment I started working on the idea. I've made a special discount because of this - 66% off for the Pro version. And currently, I believe the app in the state that delivers good value for users.

I'm curious how are you going to monetize this?

Hey @endore8,
I am subsribed to a german tech newesletter (riskybreakfast.com) which is send daily and summarises news from the tech world. Sometimes they have a paragraph about an app/tool they find interesting.
So today they mentioned Pinc in their newsletter!
Just wanted to let you know ๐

Congrats! How did you make your logo? I like the design

โบ๏ธ There were many ideas for a logo and after many try-fail iterations found this to like the most ๐

Hey @endore8, very unique product! I would very much love something like this for Android. Also, will there ever be support for alphanumeric passwords? I understand this type of obfuscation might be hard to achieve for anything other than numbers.
Sweet landing page! Can you also add a simple GIF of someone setting it up for the first time - would really help visitors understand the value prop.
Good luck on PH!

Thanks so much for the feedback! ๐
Yeah, maybe one day will develop for Android too (I'm myself an iOS dev).
Pinc already supports alphanumeric passwords - you can enter whatever you want (except emojis). Let me know if something.
Good idea about a gif on the landing page - will work on it.

great idea and it looks so polished. Did you do the designs yourself? ๐ฎ

Awesome! Thanks a lot! ๐
And yes, it's designed by myself too โบ๏ธ-

Do you mind sharing how did you implement the feature voting system in the app? Did you code it yourself or there's a Canny for native apps?
-
1
It's my own implementation, using Firebase Firestore and anonymous authorization. Some time ago had an idea like Canny, but for apps, since I could not find any existing solution. And my implementation in Pinc was sort of PoC of the idea. If you want to know more - just ask! Also, I can share the implementation itself if you are interested ๐

Woohoo, great surprise before Christmas holidays! โญ๏ธ
Hopefully it gives a good boost to the app's user base, and this review didn't even take too long since I submitted!
I would really appreciate if you guys give it a like โค๏ธ

A code looks nicer with an icon. The icon can be selected for old & new codes. Together there are 14 icons to choose from, including Visa, MasterCard, AmericanExpress.
Included in the released version 1.19, which is the 20th version of the app, and the last one in this year ๐พ

A dedicated weekend made this possible ๐
I decided to keep the home page simple, and revealed only necessary information.
Added the Press Kit page with a short explanation and the promo art.
And finally there is a proper and complete Privacy Policy page!

Was really tough to find each of them. Tried different channels, like YouTube review, Instagram tech influencers, reaching out to blogs and optimising for search on the App Store.
Motivating is that many users stay, buy the Pro version and share positive feedback! โบ๏ธ

The project is growing and I continue improving it. A new version with a couple major additions is coming soon.
Also, I wonder how much more time it will take to double the amount of commits and get to x100 in revenue? Hopefully just in a few months ๐

GoGoGo!
Let's do 1000 soon :)
about your question - it depends on how you'll promote it. i'm doing a lot of commitns and still not generating a lot of money. So marketing is important as well. I decide to learn storytelling and start to write articles about what I'm doing. maybe it can be helpful for your project too. i'm publishing my stories at hackernoon.com-
2
Interesting! I think I saw hackernoon before, but didn't really pay attention to it. Did it help much in your case?
-

when you a sole founder - it sometimes very hard to understand are you doing well or not. and storytelling is important part of the process. i'm very nerdy and have hard times to talk with normal people. but articles help me to share my experience in less hard way
-
2
Got it! And yeah, I feel you, sometimes have same problem ;)
-
1
What kind of article would you recommend to write there? I could not yet see anything like app-promotion / marketing
-
2
hard selling is against the rules at HN. or you need to be a brand there.
---
But if you have any kind of advice, or maybe you have experience to share.
---
for example - i'm sure your code looks different after the first 500 commits than it was in the beginning. Right?
What did you learn during that process? What did you change or what was groundbreaking for you - all of these questions can be a separated articles :)-

Thanks for advice! :)

Thanks! Really glad you like it ;)

Initial version with the most of the functionality I had in mind went live:
- iCloud sync
- Biometric authorisation
- Unlimited codes
- Sorting
- Lite and Pro version
No big-bang release, but I slowly started receiving positive feedback and requests for additions. Ideas from early adopter shaped the future updates quite a lot.

I realised that I had to build it. Was too disappointed by looking for existing solution.
Started with investigation and design references. Project was created on February 9th. It took me about two months until the first version was ready. And it was less than part-time side project for me.

Decided to build own manager for pin codes after I was frustrated of finding suitable solution. It should have been convenient, anonymous, secure and sync between devices, so that's what Pinc does.
