Uptime monitoring that alerts you before your customers do

August 1, 2026 Why I built PingKeeper - a website monitoring tool

I started building PingKeeper after looking at the uptime monitoring space and noticing a gap: most tools either have no real free tier at all (Pingdom starts around $10-15/month, no permanent free plan) or force a steep jump to paid the moment you outgrow a small free tier (StatusCake caps free at 10 monitors checked every 5 minutes, then jumps to $20+/month for the next step).

I wanted to build something with a genuinely usable free tier from the start — 10 monitors, checked every 4 minutes, no credit card required — with alerts sent to Discord or Slack, since that's where most small teams and solo builders actually watch for notifications, not email. The Pro plan drops checks to 1-minute intervals and adds Telegram, at one flat monthly price instead of a per-monitor pricing table that climbs as you scale.

I'm building this solo and it's still early. If you try it, I'd genuinely appreciate knowing what's missing or what breaks — happy to talk through any of it.

No, got no responses yet. Still waiting. :) Thank you so much for the the feedback. :)

The 10-monitor free tier is generous enough that I'd be curious what eventually causes someone to hit Pro.

Have you seen any early users reach the point where 1-minute checks or the additional alerting actually matters to them yet?

About

I built PingKeeper because I kept finding out one of my own sites was down only after someone told me — sometimes hours later. Existing uptime tools either had no real free plan (Pingdom) or a steep jump to paid plan.
