Pintcasts

Decreased the time it takes to convert a YouTube video into a podcast by over ~50% compared to the previous version. YouTube descriptions are now automatically added to podcast episodes. Improved metadata in XML file and updated front-end to improve experience.

The seed for Pintcasts began with my goal to read more books but my reluctance to spend time reading.

Fortunately I stumbled onto a useful life hack - search YouTube for book talks from authors to get a summary of their books.

This was fantastic, however I didn't like having to sit and watch a video when all I wanted was the audio. This problem was magnified by the fact that non-premium YouTube members cannot play content when the app is closed on their mobile.

What I wanted was a way to listen to this YouTube content on my runs or while I was on a walk. I needed to convert these YouTube videos into a podcast so I could listen to them anytime I wanted.

This is when Pintcasts was born.
