16 AI tools in one platform. Stop paying for 5 subscriptions

Visit Website
July 7, 2026 I replaced 5 SaaS subscriptions with one tool I built as a solo dev

Last year I spent $67/month on subscriptions I barely used.

remove.bg — $12.49/mo (for removing backgrounds from product photos)

TinyPNG Pro — $25/mo (for compressing images before uploading)

OCR.space — pay-as-you-go (for reading text from receipts)

PhotoRoom — $9.99/mo (another background tool I forgot to cancel)

ChatGPT — $20/mo (for writing product descriptions)

Total: ~$67/month. For stuff I do maybe 50 times a month.

That's when I got annoyed enough to build my own thing.

What I built:

PixelForge AI — 16 AI tools in one dashboard. No more opening 6 tabs to process one product photo.

The free tools (compress, convert, resize, enhance) genuinely don't need signup. No watermark, no "upgrade now" popups, no "you've reached your 3 free uses" nonsense.

The AI tools (background removal, upscaling, OCR, AI writer, speech-to-text, video generation) use a credit system:

• Free: 10 credits/month

• Starter: $9.99/mo (100 credits)

• Pro: $19.99/mo (300 credits)

What happened after launch:

• Got indexed by Google in 3 days (34 pages)

• Someone on Product Hunt said my background removal was "surprisingly clean on a tricky product photo with soft edges" — that comment made my whole week

• A stranger on Twitter asked if I was "the subscription killer" (I'll take it)

The not-so-glamorous parts:

• My Replicate API key has less than $5 in credits, so I had to get creative with rate limiting

• I deployed on Vercel from China, which means I can't even visit my own site without a VPN (the irony is not lost on me)

• The first version of the image generator returned "No image returned" because I hardcoded the wrong version hash. Ship it fast, fix it faster I guess.

What I'd tell other indie hackers:

1. Ship before you're ready. I had 4 tools working and launched. Now I have 16+.

2. Free tools are your funnel. Most people come for the compressor and stay for the AI stuff.

3. One subscription beats five. That's the entire pitch and it works because it's true.

Happy to answer questions about the tech stack (Next.js + Vercel + Neon + Replicate) or the business side. What would you have done differently?

I think the biggest shift isn't replacing five subscriptions—it's replacing fragmented workflows.

Most people don't care how many AI tools they own. They care how quickly they can go from a raw image to something ready to publish. If PixelForge consistently shortens that journey, it becomes much more than a bundle of utilities.

Congrats on shipping. This is a strong opener. On the business side, the $5 Replicate credit limit is the real risk, not the pricing tiers. If even one of the 16 tools chokes under real usage once paying users hit their 100 or 300 credits, that undermines "one subscription beats five" fast, since the whole pitch depends on all the tools holding up, not just the compressor.

What I would have done differently: stress-test the AI tools (background removal, upscaling, OCR) against messy real-world inputs before pushing the Pro tier, not just confirm they return an output. I do this kind of testing plus a talking-head walkthrough video for early SaaS tools, happy to run PixelForge through some rough product photos and flag where it holds up versus where it breaks, if that would be useful before you scale the credit tiers further.

About

I was paying $67/month for 5 separate subscriptions I got tired of juggling 5 tabs and decided to build one platform that replaces them all. Free tools should actually be free — no signup, no watermark, no tricks.
