Privacy-first web tools for designers, developers, and websi
Hey Indie Hackers,
I've been building Pixelquil, a free toolkit of SVG, developer, and Shopify tools, and wanted to share it here and get some honest feedback.
Why I built it
I kept running into the same problem. Needing a quick SVG conversion, a JSON formatter, a Shopify Liquid sandbox, or some small dev utility, and either digging through cluttered ad-heavy sites, signing up just to use one feature, or spinning up a local environment for a two minute task. I wanted the opposite of that. Tools that just work, in the browser, no account required.
What's on it right now
Over 60 tools across three categories:
SVG tools (editor, validator, viewBox fixer, palette extractor, optimizer, and more)
Developer utilities (JSON formatter, JWT decoder, regex tester, UUID/hash generators, and more)
Shopify tools (a Liquid playground you can practice in without a dev store, a section schema builder, a theme.liquid structural checker)
Everything runs client-side or through a small proxy I built for the handful of tools that need to fetch live data (broken link checker, HTTP header checker, that kind of thing). No sign-up anywhere on the site.
Where I'm at
Solo founder, self-funded, side project alongside other work. Site is live, tools are built, now working on distribution: getting listed in some GitHub awesome-lists, writing dev.to and Hashnode posts for individual tools, and figuring out this whole Indie Hackers thing as I go.
What I'd love feedback on
Does the free, no-sign-up angle actually matter to you, or is that not really a differentiator anymore?
If you build with Shopify, what's the most annoying part of your workflow that a browser tool could realistically fix?
Any glaring gaps in the tool list you'd expect to see but don't?
Site's here if you want to poke around: https://pixelquil.com
Appreciate any feedback, good or brutal.
