April 18, 2026 Launched Planim Time — a desktop time tracker for Jira

Hey IH 👋

Small launch post. I'm a backend dev, and a while back my team had to start logging time on Jira tasks. I looked around for a tracker and everything I found was either a flaky browser extension or a plugin that lives inside Jira itself. I just wanted a small app in my menu bar - one click to start, worklogs synced back automatically, get out of my way.

So I built it. Shipped it for macOS, Windows and Linux. Menu bar app, one click timer on any Jira issue, two-way worklog sync. Calendar view for your week, CSV reports for invoicing, and team rollups for leads.

A few things I'm still figuring out:

  • whether devs or team leads are the better initial audience (devs install it, leads buy seats - classic)

  • how much to lean on the "native desktop" angle vs the Jira integration one

If you use Jira and hate the built-in worklog UX - would love for you to try it and tell me what sucks: https://time.planim.app/jira

Happy to answer anything.

My team needed to log time on Jira, but every option was a browser extension or a plugin stuck inside Jira. I wanted a native desktop app in the menu bar - couldn't find one, so I built it.
