PlannyMeals started life as a meal planner. Clean concept, decent app — and every user conversation kept drifting to the same, different problem: recipe chaos.

The reel you saved on Instagram and never found again. The link buried in a notes app. The photo of a cookbook page from your mum's kitchen. Everyone hoards recipes; almost nobody can find or actually cook from them.

So we rebuilt the app around that. Share a reel, paste a link, or snap a cookbook page — PlannyMeals turns it into a clean, structured recipe: ingredients, amounts, steps. From there: cook-along mode, a shopping list grouped by aisle, automatic portion scaling, and yes, the week plan survived — but now it's built from your own collection instead of our recipe database.

The pivot lesson for us: the feature we considered secondary was the reason people opened the app.
