Plika
Privacy-first personal finance PWA. Local-first, encrypted.
I was fed up. Every finance app I tried required cloud accounts and tracked every transaction. So I decided to build the exact opposite.
Plika is a local-first personal finance PWA. Your data never leaves your device.
No accounts. No tracking. No servers. I launched it recently and reached 7,500 unique visitors in the first month, mostly through organic interest in privacy.
The Traction:
- 7.5k unique visitors in 30 days
- 8.18k page views
- 24.94k requests
- 230 MB bandwidth used
- Completely organic (no paid marketing)
What makes it different:
- Privacy-First: 100% of your data stays in your browser (IndexedDB)
- No Subscription: Pay once (€34.99), own it forever - betting on Anti-SaaS
- Bank-Level Security: AES-256 encryption for all sensitive data
- Smart Sync: Optional encrypted cloud sync (Google Drive, OneDrive, WebDAV) - you control it
- Professional Reports: PDF export for accounting and record-keeping
- Kakeibo Method: Built-in budgeting methodology for conscious spending
- Works Offline: Complete functionality without internet
The Tech Stack:
100% TypeScript, PWA, Web Crypto API, WebDAV, IndexedDB. Works completely offline. No App Store restrictions or fees.
The Reality Check:
I'm a solo bootstrapped founder. 7.5k visitors is solid early traction, but I'm still at $0 revenue. The biggest learning so far? People love the idea of privacy, but converting interest into paying customers is a different challenge.
The spikes in traffic (visible in Cloudflare analytics) came from organic discussions around privacy and finance - no viral moment, just steady interest.

Questions I'm wrestling with:
- Is "One-time purchase" the right model for personal finance tools in 2026?
- How do I communicate "Local-first architecture" to non-technical users?
- What's the killer feature that converts curious visitors into paying customers?
Feedback welcome. Building this long-term.
About
Built to solve a personal problem: managing finances without sacrificing privacy. Frustrated with cloud-dependent apps, I created Plika as a local-first alternative that puts users in control.
