Pocket Journal
Build a journaling habit you always wanted
This is surreal. We launched yesterday on App Store and have been worrying a lot about finding ways to increase our app's reach.
We just got a paid subscriber today. Now we know our app converts. And the time spent on marketing seems justified. Apple doesn't tell us who the customer is though. I'd like to really get in touch to thank them for this motivational boost.
Money feels good man. This is a big milestone for us! I'm so happy right now. If you'd like to give us a try, here's the link: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/pocket-journal/id1556203093
I've been journaling for the last 6 years and it has been life-changing.
I keep getting DMs on how to get started - that's how I started working on a minimalistic iOS app to help build a journaling habit in 2 min a day.
We previously got rejected due to a layout issue on smaller screen phones. After fixing that, we're approved and live on App Store!
We tried 24 design iterations to arrive at a minimalistic approach that gets you started in one-click.
We're proud of our positive feedback loop design. Other apps break your streak when you miss it for a day. Not us. We gently nudge you to write every day but don't penalize you for missing it. We understand life happens. Whenever you write, your streak builds up.
For a zen-like experience, we get everything else out of your way before you write today's entry. To see past entries, you should write today's entry first - a powerful flywheel.
Just open our app, get a thought-provoking prompt (our users tell us they love our curation of prompts!), and start writing. That's it. That's how we designed it to be. For beginners. No distractions. No ads. No choices. Come see the Pocket Journal experience for yourself. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/pocket-journal/id1556203093

Thanks Michael!
Great work! Have you run any marketing efforts whatsoever? or it was plain organic
Thanks Nicolas! The major marketing channel for us has been Twitter: https://twitter.com/PocketJournlApp
Our USP is curation as we provide quality journal prompts. And unless we put out our curation, nobody knows we exist. But putting it out also means we give away our USP. We finally decided to put a daily journaling prompt from our pool starting from number 31 so that it's the best of both worlds - it helps in marketing as well as someone who subscribes gets better prompts in the first month.
Great work! :-)
Thanks Duncan! :)
