May 28, 2026 I built an app to stop feeling guilty about my podcast backlog

I have a confession. I subscribe to 23 podcasts. I've listened to maybe 40% of what I've saved.

The rest just sits there, silently judging me :|

The problem isn't motivation. It's time. A great episode is 45–90 minutes. I don't always have that. But I still want the signal — the one insight, the sharp take, the moment that makes the episode worth the slot in my queue.

So I built podEssence.

It's an app (Android + iOS) that picks the key highlights from podcast episodes — the bits actually worth your attention — and plays it in Original Voice. This is NOT a transcript summariser tool.

If you're sitting on a graveyard of saved episodes, I'd genuinely love for you to try podEssence, I am sure you will not be disappointed.

About

Podcasts are incredible. But the average episode is 60–90 minutes long, not everyone can find time to listen to such long podcasts, so most people either give up on podcasts or feel guilty about ever growing backlogs
