Podtype
Easy transcriptions for podcasts
For the past few months, we have worked hard to have our product live, and we are happy to announce we are officially in early access! podtype.io/coming-soon
Some of the things we had to accomplish to get here were:
- Choose which pain to solve (podcast transcription)
- Found a differential to focus (ease of use)
- Mapped out basic user flow
- Developed a proof of concept
- Created name, logo, brand
- Studied product economics to define pricing
- Incorporated a company (Using firstbase.io which I recommend for non-US citizens)
- Created the landing page layout, copy, content
- Created a short video explaining how it works
We could have done all of it way faster by outsourcing some tasks, but we chose to do it ourselves even if it was slower because we feel that it is important as indie founders to have these kinds of experiences with our first product. This provided us with an incredible learning experience, because of the huge amount of things we had to do to cover the basics.
Going forward our next steps will focus on talking more intensely with podcasters, test a lot with early users and collect as much feedback as possible to launch a good product.
If you are struggling with any of the steps I mentioned above or just found it interesting and want to talk about it feel free to reach out, I would be glad to help with whatever I can!
After a lot of market research, we decided to start our journey by building for podcasters, here’s why:
-
Podcasts are awesome, but you already know this
-
The fact that podcasters are so active in communities makes it easy to comprehend a lot about their pains and desires
-
I often find that their communities are supportive, people frequently give very constructive feedback, and are commonly early adopters
-
Amazing industry growth makes it an even more interesting market to be in

Hello, Indie Hackers!
We are a team of three Brazilian founders, Leonardo (Software Engineer), Luiz (Data Engineer), and me (Bachelor of Business), who decided to change our lives by starting a business together.
Until recently, we only cared about our careers at other companies, which despite having brought us success, resulted in the complete absence of digital presence for any of us three.
I comment on this because I am often curious about the history of other indie hackers, whether or not they started with an audience, and in our case, we are starting from scratch.
On a more practical note, Luiz and I decided to quit our jobs to dedicate ourselves full time to the project while Leonardo chose to continue his job as a software engineer while our development demand is still not so high.
