Podwise

Hey Indie Hackers,

My name is Xin, and I'm one of the makers behind Podwise. This is my first post here, and I want to share the "aha!" moment that led us to build our first product.

It wasn't born from a brainstorming session. It came from a weird and wonderful trend we started seeing.

My co-founders and I run our own podcast. As creators, we're always lurking on social media to see what our listeners are saying. A few months ago, we noticed something strange. People were taking our episodes—and episodes from other popular podcasts—and manually transcribing key takeaways.

They were literally spending hours listening, pausing, and typing out summaries, highlights, and even creating full-blown mind maps to share with their followers.

Our first reaction was, "Wow, that's incredibly dedicated."

Our second reaction was, "...that seems like a ton of work."

This wasn't just one or two people. It was a growing, grassroots behavior. We realized these power-listeners were hacking a solution to a universal problem with podcasts: audio is hard to process.

You can't easily skim it, you can't copy-paste a great quote, and you can't quickly search for a key concept you heard last week. The knowledge is effectively trapped. These listeners were manually "unlocking" it.

That's when the lightbulb went on. What if we could automate this entire process? What if we could build a tool that does the heavy lifting for them?

And that's why we're building Podwise.

We want to transform the passive experience of listening into an active one of learning and retention. We envision Podwise helping people to:

• Save Time & Decide Faster: Get the key insights and a full transcript from any podcast in minutes. Decide upfront if an episode is worth your time.

• Learn Better & Remember More: Turn audio into visual, structured notes (like summaries and mind maps). This makes it way easier to connect ideas and recall information.

• Build a Knowledge Base: Seamlessly capture and organize ideas from podcasts into your personal knowledge system (like Notion, Obsidian, etc.).

We’re starting with the pain point we saw firsthand: the gap between hearing great ideas and actually being able to use them.
