October 30, 2021 Over $100k in revenue since April 2021

We are well on track to surpass $200k per year on our first founding anniversary. This is by far my fastest growing business, and we are still nowhere near to offering a complete product for all of the world - which is what we set out to accomplish 6 months ago. We will get there in another 6 months, completely bootstrapped.

March 28, 2021 We are profitable

Although our startup costs are relatively small (below $10k ) we are now at the break even point due to our first customer. It took a couple of months, which is better than my previous business which took about one year to reach this milestone; finally!

The client required a database of points of interest in the travel and entertainment categories - such a museums, golf courses, orchards, wineries, etc. We were able to deliver these business information across Canada and the USA with high confidence scores.

March 17, 2021 Created a new storefront

I added a storefront to sell data directly to customers in addition to direct sales. Priced at $0.01 per data item, the storefront helps clients who have a business need such as: "Get me a list of all Bitcoin ATM's in Canada" That would be as simple as https://store.poidata.xyz/236

February 28, 2021 Started offering perpetual use licenses

We offer our customers perpetual data licenses for any dataset representing this ever changing information, downloaded at any given point in time. This makes our company's licensing model unique in the current Data as a Service - DaaS Industry. Our customers don't have to delete our data after the expiration of a certain "Term", regardless of whether the data was purchased as a one time snapshot, or via our data update pipeline.

Customers requiring regularly updated datasets may subscribe to our Annual subscription plans. Our data is continuously being refreshed, therefore subscription plans are recommended for those who need the most up to date data. The main differentiators between us vs the competition are our flexible licensing terms and our data freshness.

February 2, 2021 Poi Data

POI Data is in constant flux. Every minute worldwide over 200 businesses will move, over 600 new businesses will open their doors and over 400 businesses will cease to exist. And over 94% of all businesses have a public online presence of some kind tracking such changes. When a business changes, their website and social media presence will change too. We'll then extract and merge the new information, thus creating the most accurate and up-to-date business information dataset across the globe.

January 4, 2021 off we go

This is our process flow:

Our machine learning systems continuously crawl for new POI data
Our geoparsing and geocoding calculates their geo locations

November 20, 2020 Had this idea

Point of interest data is very important for a number of business processes. Points of Interest (POI) data delivers a comprehensive view of businesses, landmarks and features around the world. Valuable insight can be applied to making site selection decisions, for example, to understand their risk profile, access to services or recreation facilities. Make the best decision related to sizing your network of store locations and develop location-based marketing plans. And “find my nearest” searches are easy to execute. Enrich your applications, business processes, and workflows with millions of global retail businesses, recreation areas, neighborhood place names, and much more.

There is lots to be said about starting working on a new idea. After months of developing the business it is still very new and likely to pivot in several directions.

About

Looking for up to date point of interest data I found existing ones severely lacking - especially as pandemic forced closures have rendered many business poi data obsolete. I set out to solve this problem.
