Poli Systems S3
A S3 service built for backing up your data in Switzerland.
We already had about 4 customers using our service.
But they were all knowing what they were doing, but the others felt a bit left apart.
Mainly the Synology users didn't truly know how to setup Hyper Backup with their tiny NAS.
So we built a guide to explain it, and they loved it! We also published it on Reddit and got a lot of engagement with the Synology Community.
You can find it here : https://wiki.polisystems.ch/English/Hosting/S3-hosting/Backup-S3-NAS-Synology/
After a year of thinking, we finally did it!
Our S3 service is live and now accepting new customers!
In one click we pushed our new website live, and we made a Linkedin post!
Peoples were really interested, but the engagement was low.
We updated our page the same day to add a simple Q/A and it did the trick! Our first order was already there!

After a few days of coding, we made our webpage.
We are not excellent coders, we surely are better as System Administrators.
The page is quite simple to understand and show what our service does, it's correctly shown on our website and fully pushed on the CDN already!

After a tiny month of work and heavy testing everything was ready.
Our OpenStack Swift cluster is fully working and the product will be pushed into production.
Our data is now pushed across two datacenters in 3 different machines, and at least in 3 different racks and 3 different disks.
How does that sounds?
We now need to create a web page for it and make it look awesome.
We support up to 12 PB of storage on this one, it was really fun to build up!

Finally, after months of searching, we founded two datacenters.
They are both in Switzerland and they are interconnected!
We planned everything and we started to create our platform with our requirements. After months of planning, we finally founded it!

After a few months thinking about this idea, we wanted something truly awesome. Not simply a new S3 service on the market.
So we came up with more requirements.
We would offer this service in two different Swiss datacenters.
We want encrypted hard drives, and we wanted triple replication.
We also added few rules, all buckets are private but unlimited and no ACL's.
At this moment we started looking for partners.

In August 2020 we had the awesome Idea to start an S3 service.
The goal was to offer a solution to backup your data without Egress, Igress or API requests fees. But we wanted to offer a truly unlimited bandwidth service unlike Wasabi.
We then planned our budget for it, machines, development and other all the other things that come with such projects!
That's where it started, and we then came up with other requirements!

About
Our service goal is to offer a simple pricing for S3. We want to offer an affordable backup solution for Synology's NAS or other devices in Switzerland with replication over 2 data centers in 3 different locations!
