After a few weeks of working on the project from time to time, I set aside a few days during the holidays to finish a first usable version.

The result was far from production-ready, but I had something that I could use on my own blog to collect feedback.

In the following weeks, I'd continue to improve the analytics dashboards and add more features to the widgets.

After the initial excitement of having a usable product, I was plagued with doubts whether this would be something other people want to pay for.

I decided to finish the MVP regardless and try to get some alpha testers.

I was looking for side-project ideas for close to a year at this point.

One of them was the creation of a feedback tool that people could embed onto their blogs.

I didn't realize how crowded the polling tool market was until I already started coding.

Upon further investigation, I also found out that there are many sub-niches in the tools out there. Do I create a UI feedback tool? Opinion polls? Embeddable surveys?

It was hard to wrap my mind around some of the solutions, so I decided to scratch my own itch and create something I would want to use on my own blog as well.
